To tackle disadvantage, social exclusion and hardship in local communities. To reach out to people to equip them with the skills to improve their economic situation, to reduce their social isolation and to convince them that they have a valuable contribution to make to society.
THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTURE
Brett had constant problems getting on in mainstream school so was a long way behind in his education. At our STEPS to 16 alternative education programme he was given direction, support and encouragement. Since leaving he has been working full-time in the construction industry. In summer 2013, he and fellow student Kayleigh took part in the British 10k London Road Race to raise money for Surrey Care Trust.
