Steps to 16

Inspiring young people to aim for brighter futures

Rhythmix week1 4

THE STORY BEHIND THE PICTURE Students take part in music lessons led by partners, Rhythmix

The STEPS to 16 alternative education  programme, based at our Learning centre in Woking, gives a second chance to 14 to 16 year-olds who have been struggling in mainstream school.

They may be coping with other problems in their lives and often they will have had extremely poor attendance at their schools, and have missed out on large long periods of education.

We believe that every young person should have the opportunity to succeed by being motivated and inspired.

We aim to nurture the social development of all the young people we work with, as well as help them to achieve the best possible learning outcomes that they can. We’re delighted to have received a Barclays Lifeskills award which recognises the commitment of the trainers on our STEPS to 16 alternative education programme to promote employability teaching and go above and beyond to prepare young people for the world of work.

We work with up to 20 young people at any one time across years 10 and 11.
