The Healthy Children’s Centre Programme (HCCP) verifies the efforts of children’s centre staff, working together with health professionals, to provide high quality services to support health and wellbeing in the community.
Achieving Healthy Children’s Centre status recognises Stanwell SureStart Children’s Centre’s ability to provide young children and their families with the most effective services and support to improve their health. These include: healthy eating; breastfeeding advice; physical activity; oral health; childhood immunisations; emotional health and wellbeing as well as adult health and wellbeing, including alcohol and substance misuse and smoking cessation, domestic violence and mental health.
Speaking about the Healthy Children’s Centre award, Centre Manager Janette Breese said: “Being verified as a Healthy Children’s Centre is great recognition of the steps we have taken together with our health partners to prioritise the health and wellbeing of parents, carers and their children. Initiatives such as the Little Diamonds group and Tips for Toddlers sessions have been uniquely tailored to meet the needs of our local community and demonstrate how we go above and beyond our statutory health duties to offer the best service possible.”
