Closure of Redhill Learning Centre
The Surrey Care Trust has had reluctantly to make the decision to close the Redhill Learning Centre, one of the locations where we have been running our Under 16s programme. This work with young people, aged 14 to 16 who are no longer attending mainstream school, will now be concentrated at our Staines and Woking Learning Centres.
This re-organisation is due to very recent changes to one of our sources of funding. Some students who were due to start at Redhill this September have been offered places at the Woking Centre. Our Redhill STEPS Ahead programme for 16 to 18 year-olds, based at Hillbrook House, is not affected and is running as normal.
The disruption to our work with under 16s in Redhill is because the funding that we receive from the Connexions service now has to be focused on our work with young people aged 16 and over.
