Our adult learning programme, FACE, runs free courses and encourages people to gain new skills.

People who have been held back in life by their lack of educational achievements, discover the confidence to learn.

FACE can also be a vital support for those seeking to acquire new skills and make a fresh start after a crisis in their lives, such as unemployment, illness, crime or family breakdown.

We work with various organisations and in communities in areas of social and economic disadvantage where there is a particular need to improve people’s skill levels.

A key strand of our work is running training courses for people who are currently unemployed, covering motivation skills, CV writing, interview and communication skills.

Mentoring and support go hand in hand and we help people to find further training to match their particular interests and needs, either on one of the courses we run ourselves, or with another training provider.

There is a strong emphasis is on helping people improve their job prospects. But for some participants in our courses the immediate priorities are increased confidence in supporting their families, or  improving their sense of self-worth by making a useful contribution to the community through volunteering.
