Esther was educated in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, London, and obtained a PhD in Fluid Engineering from Cranfield University. She is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Director.
Esther began her engineering career by designing compressors for Rolls Royce, before specialising in computational fluid dynamics for the oil industry. This led to senior management roles in a number of technology companies and then to executive management in a large oil and gas engineering & construction company.
In 2000 she co-founded a software development company (Digital Steps Limited) that now provides oil and gas data management systems "in the cloud" (energysys.com) for a wide range of clients, as well a specialist package for the regulation of Health Professionals. She has worked full time as a Director of this company for the last eleven years.
Esther is Trustee of one other local charity and participates in various fund-raising activities. Esther and her company have been supporting the Surrey Care Trust since 2001.
