On graduating from University College London, Elaine joined the NHS National Training Scheme and qualified as an accountant (IPFA) in 1979. She subsequently broadened her experience by working in financial management for a registered housing association in Cardiff and for Southampton City Council.
Elaine moved to Woking in 1983 and while her three children were growing up she spent fifteen enjoyable years working in adult and community education, the last four in a management capacity. She qualified as a teacher and taught a wide range of business and IT courses.
She joined The Surrey Care Trust in January 1999, as Business Manager, and became Chief Executive three years later. This continues to be a very challenging, rewarding and enjoyable role. Elaine feels fortunate to lead such a dedicated and enthusiastic staff team in the delivery of programmes that can literally ‘change lives'.
