Bryan worked in the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft Electrician prior to joining Surrey Police. At the time of his retirement from the service he held the rank of Detective Superintendent, having responsibility for Major Crime, conducting investigations into murder, serious crime, corruption, drugs and covert operations, as well as major investigations for other Forces.

He retired in 2001 and became the Secretary for the Provincial Grand Lodge of Surrey where he worked for 8 years. Having retired again, he now runs a small business testing electrical equipment.

In November 1999 he became a Freeman of the City of London for past services and has credits with the Open University for a BA Degree, which he hopes to find time to complete in the near future.

In addition to being a keen golfer and motor sport enthusiast, Bryan currently works as a crew member of Swingbridge and will be using his police skills to assist in the Trust’s mentoring programme.
